Confessions of a multitasking queen

1. Rise early, make a list of all the absolutes to be done today. Start with the quick jobs and plan to have them done by 10am.

2. Open Paypal to check on payments for a couple of students unsure whether they have paid final workshop payments.

3. remember that I need to refund someone unable to come and track that down first in hotmail. Get distracted by emails while I'm there and go off on a number of other tangents for the next hour. Updating my mailing list, checking various workshops registrations etc

4. Multitask by posting pics on FB and instagram the whole time I'm doing number three.

5. Get distracted by a giraffe pic on FB, find out its a riddle, answer it wrongly and now I have to be a giraffe for three days.
 6. Rebuke myself for getting distracted and resolve to get back to biz.

7. Get distracted by sweet kitty Flower Power, one of the residents here at my Airbnb apartment and let him/her? in to keep me company. Spend time scratching and cuddling.

8. Have to relog into paypal numerous times because of the distractions.

9 Answer an email from a Call of the Wild Soul student who notes that I have requested them to bring a 30 foot x 30 foot canvas to the workshop. Yikes!! Post to COTWS to make sure THAT doesnt happen! While I'm there I see something yummy being offered at the retreat and sign up for it.

10. Out of the corner of my eye I notice Flower Power sitting on the window sill, all pretty against the white, flower patterned curtains. Perfect light! Indulge in a little kitty cat photo shoot and notice its now 10am. Still havent found the Paypal payments!

11. Procrastinate even further by writing this post.

12. Decide I will go over and make this post a blog post because it made me laugh while I was reading it back and I think it will make others laugh too.

I know I'm not the only multitasking queen here

Anyone else distracted by shiny things?

ps had an incredible weekend here in Austin with Paint Mojo Austin #1.

Each new workshop I feel that I am getting closer to opening students up to finding their own authentic creative voice :))

Thank you to everyone who contributed to such a wonderful weekend!

lots of love

Seth Apter's new book!!

Ok so I don't post for 6 weeks and then twice in one day!! I never said I was consistent! ;p

What I forgot to mention today amongst the excitement about my own book is that I am THRILLED to be one of the spotlight artists in Seth Apter's new book The Mixed Media Artist

I read Seth's first book the Pulse of Mixed Media a couple of years ago and was over the moon thrilled when he asked me to contribute to his second. Seth is the kind of person I would love to have over for dinner to talk about life, art and philosophy, a gorgeous human with a sparkling smile. He also makes great art! He has the kind of attitude of curiosity and wonder that I try to impart to my students.

Seth asked me all kinds of interesting questions that actually helped me to define for myself how I approach my art making and creative life. I cant remember much of what I answered but I know it was thought provoking and I cant wait to see the whole book and look into the lives of the other wonderful spotlight artists also when I get home to Australia.

In the meantime for the whole month of October Seth is having a huge giveaway!

Head on over to his blog to meet the other featured artists in this wonderful book and leave a comment to be in the giveaway draw!

....and dont forget to add the book to your shopping cart. Sometimes a glimpse into the creative thinking of other artists can be a great affirmation in allowing us to make our own path more clearly defined :))

Snippets from the road AND super exciting news!!!!

Hello dear friends!!!!

I know, I know I have been missing in action big time!

Roaming around the U.S, painting rainbows of possibility with awesome creative people
making new friends and hanging out with old ones,
seeing new places and relishing the whole incredible experience!!!

One of the reasons I haven't had time to blog is that every.spare. moment has been taken up with finishing my book.

My sweet friend and editor Tonia sent me the cover a couple of weeks ago with instructions not to share so I have been buzzing with excitement!!!

Then on Sunday morning I log on to Facebook and see my cover staring me in the face on someones post....confused for a moment I wondered if I had somehow accidentally shared...sleep typing maybe??

Then I read further...Tracy Verdugos new book is now available for pre order on Amazon!!

Whaaaaaaat??

OMG!! OMG!! Its real!! A real book!! Not just a bunch of scrawled notes in my falling apart notebook!!
Not just a folder of beautiful contributions from awesome artists sitting on my desktop.
Not just a bunch of higgledy piggledy thoughts in my head trying to make sense!

A real life book!!!

Isn't it pretty?? :))

You can even go to Amazon right now and preorder but you'll have to be patient as the actual book doesn't come out until next July.

I dont know if you can tell but I'm a little bit EXCITED!!!!!!!!

Ok so just had to get that out...just three weeks left on my wonderful adventure and then I will be home, sweet, home with my very much missed family and ready for Summer and two whole months off to cocoon myself in my purple studio and paint to my hearts delight.

Here are just a few snippets( will be back with more soon) from the road so far. I'm in Miami right now visiting with my gorgeous Aunt Robbie (sister to my newly found biological father) and family who I met for the very first time this time last year at Thanksgiving and who has since visited us all in Australia.

Life is good and I am grateful for every moment.

catching up with friends of the heart in California....many, many years of love with these beauties.

Marco and Sienna came to visit while I was in California and we got to explore...

we visited family in Tijuana

and spent some time hanging in the garden at abuelitas house.
Even though she is gone her spirit there is still strong...

I fell in love with Albuquerque

 and Santa Fe...

Stayed with Annie and Ed in their home filled with love...

and had lots of fun hanging out with Annie and Jane for a few days :)

along the way I am blessed to be able to guide students to paint what is in their heart

 I've roamed new neighbourhoods

taken photos of scenes so breathtaking I want to paint them when I get home

and made many new furry friends too

In Wisconsin a magical fairy came to my workshop!

so many memories and wonderful shared moments along the way...too many for one post.
Will be back soon with more!

Hope everyone is feeling the wonder today!

lots of love Tracy xoxox
