Deep Listening

In my Sacred Marks workshops I love to share the Aboriginal concept of Dadirri ~Deep Listening. Aboriginal writer Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann describes deep listening as follows: “NGANGIKURUNGKURR means ‘Deep Water Sounds’. Ngangikurungkurr is the name of my tribe. The word can be broken up into three parts: Ngangi means word or sound, Kuri means water, and kurr means deep. So the name of my people means ‘the Deep Water Sounds’ or ‘Sounds of the Deep’. Miriam-Rose speaks of: “a special quality of my people. I believe it is the most important. It is our most unique gift. It is perhaps the greatest gift we can give to our fellow Australians. In our language this quality is called dadirri. It is inner, deep listening and quiet, still awareness. Dadirri recognises the deep spring that is inside us. We call on it and it calls to us. This is the gift that Australia is thirsting for. It is something like what you call ‘co...

Chatting with Lesley Riley from Art and Soul ♥

Good morning lovelies! A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being interviewed by the lovely Lesley Riley from Art and Soul Radio. My apologies for being so late to post but this is actually the first time I've had the time to sit down and listen to the interview myself. This girl has been busy finishing up at work, moving our gorgeous girl Santana up to Sydney, flying to Qld to teach Paint Mojo to the most wonderful group of women...we shared laughter, inspiration, paint, ink, collage and new beginnings in more ways than one.   My mind has been ticking away with ideas for my book, and for my upcoming lessons for Life Book and Angels in My Studio. We've booked our tickets for the BIG trip to the U.S and Marco will be on a plane next week flying out to Koh Samui for 12 months. I'm breathing through it all. So many revelations in our lives right now...so much wonder...more to share soon    Have a wonderful creative week every...

Permission to play....... Paint Mojo begins! ♥

This time last week I was up to my elbows in paint, ink and pastels, hanging out in a stable with 13 gorgeously brave creative seekers, surrounded by gum trees, horses, kangaroos and cockatoos! Heaven! In these beautiful surroundings I got to deliver my very first Paint Mojo two day workshop~ the format I will be bringing to the U.S in Sept. I can't tell you how much I am loving spending an entire weekend teaching and inspiring others to recognise and own their unique creative mojo and in return being taught and inspired by my students in oh so many ways. Thank you for allowing me into the landscapes of your lives, your creative space, into its wonder..... its childhood memories... its performance anxiety.... its tender, vulnerable beauty.... its limitless possibilities....its critical voice... Even though I have been teaching for twelve years I'm feeling something very new unfold inside me and it FEELS SO RIGHT ♥ During the weekend we shared our stories, fo...
